2 weeks til my first run in a year
On January 1, I will go for my first run since last January 1. I could run today, but I'm supposed to wait til it's been six months since getting my new hip last July 2. Here's what I'm planning to do on January 1, 2011: walk 2 miles out Spring Canyon in Mission Trails Park, turn around and run one mile back towards the car, then walk the last mile, and then see how I feel the next day. The surgeon suggested that it would be a good idea for me to never run "much", but I couldn't pin him down on recommended mielages. So, at this point I'm not planning on ever running more than 3 to 4 miles. I'm thinking I might try running faster than I used to run - trying to squeeze more fun out of fewer miles. Fascinating, huh?

Is that 3 or 4 miles total... like cumulatively forever? Or maybe you mean per stride. Yeah, of course, that's it. With a new super-secret below-the-radar gubmint issue ultrahigh security hyper-alloy hibbidy jibbidy hip joint, a coupla 3 or 4 miles per stride should be NO prob. Might/could make for a slightly asymmetrical gait. But again no prob -- just every other stride you aim radically to the opposite side. What could be simpler?
