Good plan: Walk out until REAL sore THEN turn around and go back. Reminds me of a kid who used to run one way as far as he could then turn around and try to death march it back home. I hear on occasion he ended up calling his dad for rescue.
Welcome back to the walking wounded,

All right, it's good to be back even if it hurts. Every once in a while you might want to turn around to make sure you're not dragging anything. Even if you are, I'm sure there's a warranty. Make sure you keep checkin' those carrots to make sure they're growing.

11 days of training prior to the hike may be too much. I recommend my patented marathon training plan which includes a minimum 5 week taper immediately prior to the event. That way you are guaranteed to be rested, although you will puke during the Grand Canyon hike. Listen to your doctor!

Cool - I've got my own medical team now! Five-week taper, huh?I've already been loafing for 2 weeks - I guess it's time to start easing off.
